A neighbor in Brandywine Valley

Priya

West Chester · Brandywine Buzz · 8 years

Priya moved to West Chester when her oldest started preschool. She had a job that lived on a laptop, then she had two small people who did not care about the laptop. She stayed home, and the borough became the work.

She can tell you which playground dries out first after rain and which Gay Street door is worth the wait on a Thursday. She keeps a note on her phone titled 'tell someone.' Half of it is food. The rest is a concert, a pop-up, or a block that finally feels like itself after five.

The letters let her send that note to one person instead of a group chat. She likes writing for someone who just moved here and still parks in the wrong lot.

What Priya likes to do

Weeknight walks after bedtime, trying the new place before the line forms, and sitting on a Marshall Square bench with a paper cup.

Favorites around West Chester

Personal picks, not partners. None of these places asked to be here.

Coffee
The Social, early, before Gay Street fills in. They start her order when they see the stroller.
A walk
A loop through Marshall Square Park, then down toward the Growers Market when it is in season.
The market
West Chester Growers Market. She is there at 8. The good bread is gone by 9.
A diner booth
The diner on the Pike on a rainy Sunday, when nobody is in a hurry and the kids can color on the placemat.
An event they never miss
The Restaurant Festival on Gay Street. She picks one new place and one old favorite and refuses to do more than that.

What Priya loves writing about

If I would walk there after bedtime, it is worth putting in a letter.
